What does a Foster Grandparent do?
Foster Grandparents work one on one with children with exceptional needs. Some volunteer in Head Start centers, day care centers, or preschools. Activities for younger children may include helping children develop reading readiness, providing emotionalsupport, and assisting with and teaching self-care. Some Foster Grandparents work in lower and upper elementary schools providing emotional support, helping to develop basic learning skills, tutoring in reading, and helping children stay on course with their studies.
